Eating in Sydney Without Breaking the Bank

Eating in Sydney Without Breaking the Bank

Nov 27, 2013

You’re ready to go to Australia and Sydney is going to be your perch. You’ve heard about the incredible food, but don’t want to spend an arm and a leg to experience it. You’re not alone! While Sydney has the most expensive restaurants in the world, that’s not for every budget. Here are some choices broken down by price to help you decide where to eat while you enjoy the land down under:

Main Dishes Under $15

For Vietnamese fare, try Miss Chu. With excellent selections like Peking Duck Pancakes and rice paper rolls, it won’t disappoint.

If you’re in the mood for Mexican food, try Guzman and Gomez. They’ll provide quality food in a short period of time and for a decent price.

Main Dishes Between $15 and $25

If you like Thai food, don’t miss Sailors Thai. They have been serving authentic Thai cuisine since the early 90s. You can find dishes over $25, but there is a nice selection within the $15-$25 range.

Red Oak Boutique Beer Café provides an interesting combination of food and beer that is worth experiencing. Their tasting boards, which feature four canapé dishes paired with different Red Oak beers, are unique and tantalizing.

Main Dishes $25 and Up

Toko Restaurant Bar and Grill and Sokyo offer some of the best sushi in Sydney. Excellent presentation combined with wonderful flavors makes these restaurants worth splurging on.

Reservations are definitely required at Quay. This restaurant was rated one of the world’s 50 best restaurants. Culinary art is demonstrated in their textures, colors, contrasts, plating, and other techniques.
